The statement read: "He is in stable condition and we will provide an update (Monday) after he completes further testing."
The gruesome incident happened halfway through the second quarter of the clash between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions, which the Lions won 33-28.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr threw the ball to running back Kamara on a third and three. As the ball ran left out of bounds, Kamara was pushed into the sidelines where he accidentally crashed into the leg of an official.

The official attempted to evade the collision but wasn't able to avoid the impact as he fell to the ground.
Cameras cut to a close-up of the scene which showed Kamara standing up on his own and shaking off the hit. However, the official clearly came off worse and lay on the floor in agony while clutching his leg, which appeared broken.
NFL fans on social media were understandably concerned for the official, whereas others pointed to Kamara's reaction in the immediate aftermath.
After getting to his feet, the 5x Pro Bowler appeared to briefly check if the official was OK before running back onto the field to carry on with the game.

Some were taken aback by how nonplussed Kamara looked in the face of such a grizzly incident.

"Kamara look like he didn’t even care wtf," on fan said.
"Of course it was an accident w/ Alvin Kamara and the referee," a second wrote. "If that’s me, I’m not walking away no matter what. I’ll make room for the medical staff, but I’m not leaving that man’s side no matter what. You could fine me, idc. So sorry that whole thing had to happen. Praying for a healthy recovery."
"alvin kamara after snapping a man’s entire fibula into two pieces," a third fan captioned a meme which read, "Damn... I kinda don't care."
"Sideline dude broke his leg and Alvin kamara just looks at him and walks away doesn’t even waive over anyone …cmon man, " a fourth wrote.
However, others defended Kamara's reaction, making the point that there was little more he could have done in that situation.
"He clearly demonstrates that he does care. There isn’t anything he can do. More often than not, they just turn around and walk away without hesitation," on fan argued.
The game was ultimately stopped to give the injured official immediate medical attention.
The official's leg was placed in an air cast before they were placed on a stretcher and carted off.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Kamara was able to compose himself and have a game to remember.
