The Twenty Two Hotel Review, Mayfair, London

The excellent, all-day Restaurant at The Twenty Two overlooks leafy Grosvenor Square. Overseen by Alan Christie, previously of Arbutus, it serves a modern British menu with Mediterranean influences, offering new takes on classic dishes. The room itself is a lovely space to be. It's lit by natural light-filled by day and candlelit at night. Its panelled walls are four different shades of powder blue and a pale Persian rug lines the stone floor as diners settle into velvety, caramel-coloured dining chairs at tables dressed in the crispest white linen.

An à la carte menu is offered at weekday lunch times and every evening. Treats include oysters with fennel mignonette, chargrilled heritage carrots, Devonshire crab salad and Loin of Spring lamb with sheep’s ricotta. Breakfast is also excellent, with memorably delicious freshly baked pastries, a smoothie menu, staples such as eggs Benedict, and home-made granola with poached pear, ricotta and London honey.

Over in the Living Room, you can enjoy fun cocktails such as the Clair de Luna (Tanqueray Gin, cucumber, Amalfi lemon, tea syrup and champagne) and lighter bites. Hotel guests can also dine downstairs in the members’ club, which offers a slightly richer, clubbier menu, peppered with caviar and truffle.
